Its market share for the month is estimated to stand at 23.8 percent, the highest since Auguest 2013, and an increase of 10.3 percent over February 2019.
The performance were mainly contributed by three models, which are the Proton Persona, Proton X70 and the Proton Exora MPV.
Proton Persona retook the lead in the B-segment sedan category with 2,653 units sold, nearly doubled the figures generated by its closest competitor, while the X70 contributed 1,973 units.
“February was a strong sales month for Proton despite the shrinking Total Industry Volume (TIV) compared to January. By being able to maintain our sales growth, our market share is now at its highest point in 77 months. Booking for the 2020 Proton X70 have also been strong so we feel encouraged about our plans for the rest of the year,” said its chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong in a statement.
