The All-New Toyota Corolla Launched In Malaysia

October 9, 2019, Kuala Lumpur – UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the All-New Toyota Corolla in Malaysia with a starting price of RM 128,888.

The Toyota Corolla is the all-time best selling car of the world, with more than 46 million units produced since it was first introduced in 1966. To date, over 150,000 units sold in Malaysia.

There are two variants of the 12th generation Corolla being offered, the Corolla 1.8G and the Corolla 1.8E, both with only automatic transmission. The model is imported in completely built-up (CBU) form from Toyota’s regional hub in Thailand.

“The Toyota Corolla has been a core model in our line-up for decades. Each new generation has been developed with changing requirements of customers in mind and the latest 12th generation continues this, in line with Toyota’s objective of offering ever-better cars,” said its president Ravindran K in a statement.

Both variants are built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform and powered by the 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve petrol engine with Dual VVT-i, mated to the seven-speed sequential shiftmatic (CVT). The engine produces 137 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 172 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

“The All-new Toyota Corolla is one of the first model in Toyota’s range to adapt the TNGA. TNGA offers enormous flexibility to the designers and engineers to optimise designs for different types of vehicles,” Ravindran said.

The 1.8E is equipped with keyless entry with push start button, automatic halogen headlamps with manual-leveling function, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, fog lamps, 4.2-inch TFT LCD Instrument cluster display, single-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, 6.8-inch touchscreen head units, six speakers sound system, black fabric upholstery and 8-way powered driver’s seat.

Meanwhile, the range topping 1.8G is fitted with LED projected headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, optitron instrument cluster with seven-inch display, dual-zone climate control, black leather upholstery, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, paddle shifters, rear window sunshades, Qi wireless charger, 3D panoramic view monitor, as well as front and rear digital video recorders.

As for the safety aspects, both variants are equipped with seven airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, hill-start assist control, emergency stop signal, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX childseat mounting points.

At the same time, the 1.8G comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety and driver assistance system, which includes the pre-collision system, lane departure alert with steering assist and lane tracing assist, dynamic radar cruise control, auto high beam and blind spot monitor.

There are five exterior colours to choose from – Celestite Gray Metallic, White Pearl CS, Silver Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and Attitude Black. The All-New Toyota Corolla 1.8E is priced at RM 128,888, while the 1.8G is retailed at RM 136,888. Both prices are without indurance and for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia only.

Every purchased of the All-New Toyota Corolla is covered by a five-year unlimited mileage factory warranty.

The 3D panoramic view monitor and dual DVRs are available as an option for the 1.8E variant at RM 2,700 and RM1,100, respectively. The company also offers a Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) that allows owners to check their vehicle’s real-time location via a mobile app for an additional RM1,950. It includes a three-year subscription fee waiver (which cost RM250 per year).
